FIELD TRIP!

We have just gone on our first field trip of this year. We visited Montgomery and explored the Civil Rights Memorial Center, the Alabama State Capitol building, and the Alabama Department of Archives and History. What did you learn about the history of our state? What was your favorite part? What surprised you?

My favorite part of the Civil Rights Memorial Center was when we talked about Emmet Till. The guide asked Jaela to read about him. Emmet Till got beat up by two white men. The guide said that you may not want to see the pictures. This was my favorite part because I like learning about history.

I had a great time on the field trip. My favorite part on the field trip was I got to learn more about the Alabama State Capitol. At the Alabama Department of Archives and History, I learned about the different kinds of rocks in Alabama and what games the people played a long time ago. Native Americans played chunky and we went to the other room and we had to find three gadgets from long ago.

I learned how the Indians throw arrows and how they play chunkie. What surprised me is what they ate and what they wore. They ate deer and wore their skin. Don't you think that's confusing?
