Who Is Your Hero?

I know you are all involved in projects and performances for the Black History programs at your schools. I know you all know a lot about some of the people in history. But, do you really identify with any one person? Who do you really admire the most? Why?

Someone I really admire is my fifth grade teacher. She became my teacher in Mississippi when schools were integrated. She was an African-American teacher in a formerly all white school. As a fifth grader, I don't know if she suffered any discomfort or rudeness from the white teachers at the school. But, if she did, she certainly didn't let it affect her ablility to teach nor her ability to relate to the students. I loved my teacher! She was great! I know that during Black History month we usually talk about famous and well-known people, but I consider her my hero!

I admire Martin Luther King Jr. Martin admired me because he sacrificed his life for Afican Americans to have freedom and to do what the Caucasian could do. Dr.King marched, wrote speeches, and went to jail to get our freedom.
He worked with many people. One of them was Rosa Parks. King spent his life trying to free us. Martin Luther King Jr. will always be my hero!

The person I admire is W.E.B Du Bois . Some people might not know him but he is a noted scholar , editor and African American activist . He was a founding memder of the NAACP which is the oldest black organization in America. He was born on February 23,1868 and that is why he is my hero.

Someone I admire is my mom because when I grow up I want to be just like her. You can get taught lessons when you do something bad and she lets me know that my mistakes can help me to live better.
